Forbes ranks best banks and credit unions in Indiana

The publication compiled the lists from customer surveys that evaluated the institutions on criteria such as customer service, the quality of financial advice offered by representatives, and fee structures.
Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey about 26,000 Americans, who also weighed in on their level of satisfaction with the bank or credit union, the ease of navigating digital services and accessing help at branch locations, and the degree of trust the financial institutions inspired.
On the list of the best banks in Indiana, Merrillville-based Centier Bank ranks the highest.
“It’s an honor to occupy the top spot on this year’s list representing the best banks serving Indiana residents,” Centier CEO Michael Schrage said in a news release. “This continued achievement is a testament to our dedicated team’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional service and fostering strong relationships with our clients. We will continue to prioritize our community’s financial well-being and strive for excellence in all that we do.”
Three other Indiana-based banks made the list, including First Farmers Bank & Trust in the Grant County town of Converse at No. 2, followed by Alliance Bank in the Pulaski County town of Francesville and South Bend-based 1st Source Bank.
Ohio-based Huntington Bank, which has a large presence in Indiana, came in at No. 5.
Five institutions made the list of the best credit unions in Indiana. IU Credit Union in Bloomington tops this year’s list, followed by Fishers-based Forum Credit Union, Bedford-based Hoosier Hills Credit Union, Centra Credit Union in Columbus, and Everwise Credit Union in South Bend.
