Vested Metals, which supplies custom metals to a variety of industries like defense and transportation, opened the 20,000-square foot facility this month along Innovation Boulevard on the northern edge of Fort Wayne.
Vested Metals is based in St. Augustine, Florida.
According to a press release from the company, the new distribution warehouse offers a number of strategic advantages, including its proximity to manufacturing hubs in Chicago, Indianapolis and Detroit.
“It’s a major step in expanding our footprint and increasing our efficiency. Fort Wayne is a strategic nexus for our customers west of the Mississippi,” said Vested Metals President Viv Helwig. “This will help us reduce lead times and continue to offer competitive rates for high-quality products.”
In addition to Fort Wayne’s location, Vested Metals says the new center lets the company stock a wider range of materials and more advanced processing capabilities. The center will feature cutting saws to custom make certain orders on-site and an upgraded packaging department.
The release says the facility will also offer local truck delivery through its own delivery staff.
Vested Metals started operating in 2014. It sources and stocks rare alloys and sizes of metals for specialized applications.
