The company accepted the 2015 Convenience Store Decisions‘ Chain of the Year award last week in Las Vegas.
Atlanta-based RaceTrac Petroleum Chief Executive Officer Allison Moran presented the award to Family Express, citing the company’s "innovation, outstanding operations, superior leadership and the ongoing commitment to convenience retail."
Family Express opened a 150,000 square-foot distribution center in 2010. It has since added a central bakery, which produces thousands of doughnuts, muffins, cookies and other pastries each day.
The family-owned company also built a $4 million headquarters and training center in Valparaiso that includes a full-scale, functioning store to train employees and test new products.
