The grant, which is part of the Hoosier Homegrown Fuels Blender Pump Program, adds to the nearly $800,000 grant awarded to Family Express last year.
The OED says the goal of the program is to expand the availability of E15-E185 fuel blends where they are typically limited or not available. The grant will give Family Express the ability to deploy eight additional blender pumps that can dispense the higher ethanol blends throughout the state.
"We are excited to have Family Express Corporation partnering with us through HHF to add more ethanol-blended options for Indiana drivers," said David Gottbrath, president of the Indiana Corn Marketing Council. "We believe that investing corn checkoff dollars in this program helps work toward our goal of making ethanol blended fuels a viable fuel option for Hoosiers throughout the state."
The state says about 450,000 Indiana residents drive Flex Fuel vehicles which use the higher ethanol fuel blends.
