Evergreen Recreational Vehicles LLC has officially announced it is closing its two facilities in Middlebury. In a notice to the state, the RV manufacturer said the closure would affect 270 employees.

Evergreen said it had been actively seeking financing and business through various sources, including loans and internally-generated financing. Despite its efforts, the company said it had been unable to obtain the necessary financing to continue operations in Middlebury.

The company began eliminating positions on Friday and expected the facilities to be closed by June 24. Earlier this year, Evergreen announced it was expanding its Middlebury production operations by moving its Skyline RV operations, which Evergreen acquired in 2014, from Bristol.
