Evansville Airport Cuts Ribbon on Terminal Improvements

Subscribe NowOfficials at Evansville Regional Airport are celebrating the completion of $20 million in renovations at the airport’s terminal. The Courier & Press reports the effort, which included funding from the Regional Cities Indiana initiative, features a new consolidated TSA security line, passenger amenities and updated restrooms.
The renovations began in 2017 in what was originally estimated to be a $12 million investment. Some of the passenger amenities added to the terminal include a new WiFi business lounge, a children’s play area, a pets area and a nursing room. The airport has also added new digital flight information boards.
The effort also featured outdoor enhancements, such as new paving and LED lighting. Work continues on the airport’s parking lot and new canopies are being added in front of the terminal, according to the publication.
The renovations consolidated its two TSA security lines into one and the airport is also celebrating the arrival of the TSA Pre-Check program. A temporary enrollment event for the service is underway and will continue through Friday.
Nate Hahn, the incoming executive director for the airport, told Inside INdiana Business in September the airport’s recent growth can be attributed to the improving economic picture of the region and there is room for further growth. The airport is expecting to have seen more than 230,000 people board planes in 2018 by the end of the year.
