Gail Boudreaux, CEO of Indianapolis-based Elevance Health, is ranked No. 14 on the list, along with other notable women such as Vice President Kamala Harris, Taylor Swift, and philanthropist McKenzie Scott.
Boudreaux was named CEO of Elevance, formerly known as Anthem, in 2017. She is also a former CEO of UnitedHealthcare, the largest division within UnitedHealth Group.
Forbes says the list was determined by four main metrics: money, media, impact and spheres of influence. For corporate chiefs such as Boudreaux, revenues, valuations and employee counts were key to the rankings.
“Gail’s rank of #14 on Forbes’ 20th annual list of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women reflects her commitment to elevating whole health and connecting consumers, families, and communities with the care they need to lead healthier lives,” Elevance said in a statement to Inside INdiana Business. “We congratulate Gail on this accolade, which speaks to the strength of her leadership as our company continues our work to improve the health of humanity.”
The top five women on the list are European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Taylor Swift.
