The Do it Best Foundation on Monday announced former meteorologist and not-for-profit executive Curtis Smith as the next leader of the foundation.
The announcement of Smith’s hiring comes just a few months after Randy Rusk was named executive director of the foundation in late July. The organization’s press release says Rusk has moved to a role as special projects manager with the Do it Best company.
The release does say Smith was mostly recently the chief communications officer for Lasting Change Inc., an organization that offers business services for several not-for-profit counseling companies. Before that, Smith held roles with Parkview Health, Crosswinds Counseling as well as a TV personality for WPTA-TV in Fort Wayne.
“I’m deeply honored to step into this leadership role with the Do it Best Foundation,” said Smith in a written statement. “I’ve watched the growth and impact of the Do it Best Foundation over the last five years and it’s a real thrill to now be able to lead it forward.”
The release says he’s looking forward to launching Cookin’ Fort Wayne—an event set for May that will raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Do it Best is a hardware and building materials seller, which has locations across the U.S. and around the world. The company’s charitable foundation supports community initiatives in and around Fort Wayne and in areas where Do it Best has warehouses including Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina and Texas.
