Gourley has been a member of DePauw’s faculty since 1988, serving in numerous roles. She has served as dean of the faculty for the last four years and will maintain that position along with her new role.
She has also had multiple leadership roles with the Washington D.C.-based Council on Undergraduate Research, and her work has significant support from various funding agencies and several National Science Foundation awards.
“The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences centers the liberal arts in all aspects of academic life at DePauw,” Gourley said. “It is who we are. We are creating the scaffold of tools and knowledge that develops students to think critically and creatively and effectively communicate as global citizens and leaders in professions of their choosing.”
This appointment is part of “DePauw’s Bold & Gold 2027” strategic plan that was announced last year.
