Del Monte to Close Plymouth Plant

Subscribe NowCalifornia-based Del Monte Foods Inc. says it will close its tomato processing facility in Plymouth next year. In a notice to the state, the company says more than 100 full-time employees will be affected, beginning in November.
Production is slated to stop in November, with warehousing and distribution to continue until February. According to the WARN Notice, the closure is expected to be permanent, and the company will provide severance packages and outplacement support to the impacted employees.
Del Monte has been in Plymouth for more than 35 years, operating out of a facility spanning 19 acres and consisting of five production lines. The plant produces ketchup and tomato-based sauces and juice from concentrate. The Plymouth facility produces approximately 11 million cases of Del Monte and private label products per year.
The company says that production will move to a Hanford, California facility.
