The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority says Granddaddy’s Garden Spot will use the funds to establish a garden, greenhouse, farmer’s market, and chicken coup, as well as water systems, raised beds, and signage.
The $50,000 campaign, which is being led by Young & Established, could receive a matching grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s CreatINg Places program. The campaign’s $50,000 goal must be reached by Jan. 31 to be eligible for the IHCDA’s match.
“Granddaddy’s Garden Spot will increase access to local food, inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and help residents maintain a healthy lifestyle through agriculture and gardening,” said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch. “This project will bring immediate positive change for the community and a lasting impact for generations to come.”
“We’re excited to get this project going,” said Courtney Johnson, executive director of Y&E Inc. “We know how much of an impact this garden is going to have on our community and we want to thank CreatINg Places for being a part of our journey.”
