The Star Press reports crews have started site work on a Hilton Home2 Suites hotel on the city’s northwest side.
In a weekly update to the city, Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour said despite the delay, the project is moving forward.
“If you’re up near the Hampton Inn, just to the west, you’ll see some stakes,” said Ridenour.
The publication says the project was approved by the Board of Zoning Appeals in October 2018. The original timeline called for completion of the 100-room hotel by the summer of 2020.
“That’s another hotel which will increase our tax base, increase our hotel rooms,” said Ridenour.
The mayor says the hotel will be the second largest in Muncie, just behind the downtown Marriott.
