The WACF says the purchase of the Ricks property on Turkey Creek Road at the east end of Lake Wawasee is ‘one of our most important wetland acquisitions since our founding in 1991.’
The WACF says the property includes an inlet stream and mouth of Turkey Creek and has nearly 400 feet of frontage shoreline. The wetland was secured from the estate of Patricia Ricks, through her son, Brian Ricks.
“WACF has been focused on preserving and protecting our watershed for thirty years. The Ricks property was identified in 1991 as an important acquisition due to its location and dense wetlands. We are grateful we can honor the Ricks family and protect this property.” said WACF Board Member Tom Yoder.
