John Wetzel starts his new role as a senior project manager for the water resource engineering and consulting firm on Monday, the company said.
Wetzel was previously president of Midwestern Engineers, according to his LinkedIn profile, based out of an office in Santa Claus.
A Purdue University graduate and member of the American Water Works Association, Wetzel has more than 30 years of experience in water resource consulting engineering, Commonwealth said in a news release. He has worked with regional water and sewer districts, conservancy districts, not-for-profit organizations and municipalities on water and wastewater projects and how to finance them with help from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other federal agencies.
“We are excited to welcome John Wetzel to our team,” Commonwealth Engineers President Al Stong said. “His engineering and leadership experience and proven technical track record make him a valuable addition to our company as we continue to grow and expand.”
Wetzel will lead an engineering team out of the new office in Huntingburg, which is about 75 miles west of Louisville, Kentucky. The office at 511 E. 4th Street is expected to open this fall.
In addition to the corporate office and another office in Indianapolis, Commonwealth Engineers has locations in Fort Wayne, Crown Point, Evansville, South Bend, and Bowling Green, Kentucky.
