Chicagoland ice company buys Polar Ice Systems in DeMotte

Polar Ice Systems, an ice machine leasing company based in the Jasper County town of DeMotte, has been bought by Chicago-based Easy Ice. Easy Ice, which bills itself as the only ice machine subscription services provider in the country, says the acquisition will support its nationwide growth strategy.
Easy Ice, formed in 2009, says the addition of the 53-year-old company will result in “major national growth,” expanding its presence in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Polar Ice Systems specializes in ice machine leasing, sales, and service across multiple industries.
“The acquisition of Polar Ice Systems supports our goal of enhancing our customer density, along with adding another branch location and service facility in a major market,” said Easy Ice CAO Darren Boruff. “We will continue to supply our growing customer base with cutting-edge technology, customer support systems, and industry-leading ice machine service.”
Earlier this year, Easy Ice acquired Biltmore Refrigeration in Chicago and Hutto Refrigeration in Charleston, South Carolina. The company says it also made several executive-level appointments throughout the year to support its growth targets.
In addition to the Chicagoland area, Easy Ice operates more than a dozen other branch locations and manages more than 30,000 units across 47 states. The company says it plans to make additional acquisitions in 2023.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
