Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the toll on the Chicago Skyway for two-axle vehicles—including passenger vehicles and light trucks—increased 60 cents to $7.80 on Jan. 1.
The Chicago Skyway is a 7.8-mile toll road that stretches over the Calumet River from the Indiana Toll Road in Hammond to Interstate 94 in Chicago.
The toll for the roadway has grown from $2 in 2004, the publication reported, after it was leased to joint venture Skyway Concession Company LLC for $1.8 billion in 2005.
The toll for three-axle vehicles during peak times–between 4 a.m. and 8 p.m.–has risen $1.80 to $27.20. During off-peak times, the toll will be $19.50, a $1.30 increase.
For seven-axle vehicles, the toll is now $63.50 during peak times and $45.40 during off-peak times.
