BWI to Break Ground on First U.S. Facility

Ltd. to break ground on a more than $80 million manufacturing facility in Greenfield. The nearly 275,000 square-foot building will be the Chinese company’s first production site in the U.S. and is expected to create up to 441 jobs by 2021.
BWI plans to begin production at the facility, located at Progress Park in Greenfield, in August 2019. The company, which designs and manufactures brake and suspension systems for the automotive market, says it expects to increase production by four million parts per year to meet demand from clients such as Audi, BMW, Ferrari and Porsche.
When plans for the facility were announced in April, BWI Global Facilities Director Greg Dronen told Inside INdiana Business the company chose Greenfield over a number of other sites throughout North America, including more than two dozen in Indiana.
Governor Eric Holcomb and Greenfield Mayor Chuck Fewell will be on hand for the groundbreaking, which is scheduled for 2:30.
