Broecker to Lead Innovation at Purdue Research Foundation

David Broecker, who most recently served as the first chief executive officer of the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute, will serve as chief innovation and collaboration officer at the Purdue Research Foundation in West Lafayette. Broecker has helped launch multiple startups and has held leadership positions with companies of all sizes in Indianapolis and Boston.
Broecker previously served on the PRF board for two-and-a-half years before stepping down for the new role. He succeeds Dan Hasler, who was recently named executive vice president for communication at Purdue University.
PRF President Brian Edelman said "advancing big ideas in collaboration with others is at the heart of what we do here at the Purdue Research Foundation, so it is important we have someone who can continue to propel us forward and promote innovation activities on behalf of the foundation. David has shown he’s an outstanding leader, a top-notch entrepreneur and innovator with strategic acumen, and someone with a drive for success."
Broecker. a Wabash College graduate who also holds degrees from MIT and the University of Chicago, calls Purdue a top place for innovation and entrepreneurship. He added "having spent my career leading highly successful and innovative organizations, I hope to bring that perspective to expand Purdue’s strategic research and corporate partnerships – especially around place making at the Convergence Center and the development of the Discovery Park District."
Broecker’s career began as a process engineer with Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY). He’s the former CEO of Alkermes in Massachusetts and will continue to serve as CEO and chairman for Indianapolis medical device startup Zorion Medical.
