BraunAbility says it will invest $7.5 million to move its HQ to the Lakeside Green Business Center and construct a new Research & Development and Technology Center. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says the move will create up to 70 jobs in Hamilton County. The company says the investment will also boost its existing manufacturing operations in Winamac.
BraunAbility expects the new headquarters to be up and running by June and plans to open the new technology center in 2020. The company says the new campus will focus on innovation and new product development, as well as providing support for its dealer distribution channel and development business in Europe.
"At BraunAbility, our goal is improving independence and freedom for our customers – we change lives," said Staci Kroon, chief executive officer of BraunAbility. "Winamac, Indiana is the birthplace of our company and will remain the heart and soul of the company as its primary manufacturing center. To support our continued expansion, we’re excited to announce Carmel as our new, global headquarters. The new facilities will be designed for collaboration and innovation and are key to our long-term recruitment and retention strategies."
BraunAbility says the new jobs in Carmel will include accounting, engineering, finance, human resources and marketing positions. The company also expects to add more jobs in Winamac, including engineering and finance positions. Some employees will transition to the Carmel headquarters, the majority of which either live in Indianapolis or out of state and commute to Winamac.
The IEDC has offered BraunAbility up to $1.3 million in conditional tax credits, which the company will not be eligible to claim until Hoosier workers are hired for the new jobs. The city of Carmel is offering additional incentives as well.
