The company says the innovation lab will be a state-of-the-art technology center where engineers and product developers focus on the development of new mobility solutions.
“The BraunAbility Global Innovation Lab will accelerate our pursuit of life-changing innovation for those living with mobility challenges and those who care for them,” said BraunAbility Chief Executive Officer Staci Kroon.
The company specializes in wheelchair accessible vans and wheelchair lifts. It relocated its headquarters from Pulaski County last October, but the production factory remained in Winamac.
Kroon said the move to Carmel was due to the need for access to a larger population base to attract talent as the company continues to grow.
BraunAbility said the lab project is being funded in partnership with real estate development firm Atapco. It is scheduled to open in April 2021.
