The organization said the courses will help participants keep pace with the demands of the modern office.
The first course is the NSITE Professional Mastery of Office Technology for Employment, or ProMOTE, training program. The program aims to help assistive technology, or AT, users build up their fundamental skills not only with AT, but Microsoft Office, troubleshooting, and internet browsing.
As part of the class, which will run July 3-28, Bosma said students will be required to apply such skills to project-based, time-sensitive tasks similar to what they would find in the workplace.
Additionally, Bosma is providing a 16-week Salesforce Administrator training course that will begin Aug. 7. The course, which is taught virtually by a certified Salesforce administrator with vision loss, will prepare students toward their own Salesforce Associate certification.
“When people with disabilities take our Salesforce Administrator or ProMOTE courses, they are setting themselves up for future success and employment,” said James Michaels, vice president of program services at the Bosma Center for Visionary Solutions. “These classes are part of our larger effort to reduce the 70% unemployment rate for people who are blind or visually impaired.”
