While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the company says the sale is expected to close in early July.
The acquisition is led by Big Red Liquors co-owners Tony Knoble and Justin Collins, as well as President Don Rix.
“We consider it a great privilege to hold a liquor license, and we take that responsibility very seriously,” said Rix. “We’re incredibly thankful to become a part of Fort Wayne, and look forward to continuing the legacy of Cap n’ Cork within the community instilled by the Lebamoff family, along with supporting more than 160 current employees that make up the Cap n’ Cork family.”
Big Red Liquors says it will preserve Cap n’ Cork’s current name and branding and retain all team members.
“Joe and I are excited that Big Red Liquors has entered the Fort Wayne market,” said co-owner Andy Lebamoff. “We know they will continue the great service and selection of products that our customers have come to expect, solidifying Cap n’ Cork as a staple in the Fort Wayne community for over 100 years.”
Big Red Liquors currently operates 60 stores. With the acquisition of Cap n’ Cork’s locations, Big Red Liquors says its footprint grows to 75 liquor stores statewide.
