The publication calculates its ranking based on six categories, including student outcomes, faculty resources, and expert opinion.
The other categories include financial resources, student excellence, and alumni giving.
The University of Notre Dame is the highest-ranking school in the state, coming in at No. 19. Purdue University comes in at No. 49, while Indiana University-Bloomington ranks No. 68 in the overall list, which includes both private and public institutions.
Many of the schools have also achieved high rankings in a variety of sub-categories, such as engineering, innovation, liberal arts, and regional institutions. For instance, Purdue is ranked No. 17 and IU Bloomington is No. 26 among public national universities. Both schools moved up from last year’s list.
“While these rankings are only one measure of our university’s success, seeing IU stand out in this evaluation of the higher education landscape bolsters our resolve to continue pursuit of our core missions,” said IU President Pamela Whitten.
