The $6.4 million project is expected to be complete by the summer of 2018.
The 19,000 square-foot facility will be built adjacent to Worthen Arena and is named in honor of hall of fame men’s volleyball coach Don Shondell. It will feature two basketball and volleyball courts, plus study, training and meeting rooms. Funding for the complex comes from the $20 million Cardinal Commitment campaign.
Shondell has the second-most wins in college men’s volleyball history and the most career wins of any Ball State varsity head coach in the school’s history. In the 34 years Shondell led the Cardinals in the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, he won 20 championships.
