Ascension opens new program for senior care

Ascension Living St. Vincent’s new Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, or PACE, building features a large therapy gym, adult day center, medical clinic, outdoor courtyard, pharmacy and chapel.
The 38,000-square-foot building is located at 5435 W. Pike Plaza Road.
PACE serves 47 zip codes in northern Marion County and surrounding areas. It also provides geriatric medical care to help adults 55 and older with chronic conditions stay in their home.
“We are priveleged to provide seniors living in the greater Indianapolis area with a new type of care that both coordinates and provides all needed preventative, primary health, acute and long-term care services so that older adults in this area can continue living in the community while enhancing their quality of life,” Ascension executive Lisa Musgrave said in a news release.
The PACE model seeks to provide seniors with long-term care needs the longest amount of time living independently as possible.
Through the program, participants have access to physicals, social, spiritual and behavioral health services. The program will also provide transportation to the center and medical appointments; home delivery of medication; occupational, physical and speech therapies; pastoral care and more.
Its providers say PACE offer little to no monthly fees with no benefit limitation, copayments or deductibles.
Only about 5% of PACE participants national resident in a nursing home, according to an Ascension news release that cited the National PACE Association. PACE will pay for and coordinate services for those in the program who need nursing home care.
“We understand getting older is hard enough and even more so for those living with multiple long-term illnesses,” Musgrave said. “With the opening of this new PACE center, eligible seniors will have access to helpful tools, resources and dedicated care teams to help them remain safe ad well while living in the community.”
