The move comes more than a year after the steelmaker divested most of its U.S. assets to Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. (NYSE: CLF).
The company has taken up office space at the Crossings at Schererville office complex at U.S. 30 and Indianapolis Boulevard, the publication reports.
ArcelorMittal was at one time one of the largest employers in northwest Indiana with more than 10,000 workers. The company sold most of its assets in a $1.4 billion deal with Cleveland-Cliffs that was first announced in September 2020.
The deal included ArcelorMittal’s Indiana Harbor steel mill in East Chicago, Burns Harbor steel mill in Porter County and the Gary Plate finishing facility inside U.S. Steel’s Gary Works steel mill, among others.
The Times reports ArcelorMittal still maintains some North American assets, including ArcelorMittal Global R&D in East Chicago, as well as steel mills in Canada and Alabama.
