(NYSE: ANTM) has named a new leader for its new pharmacy benefits management company. Deepti Jain, who currently serves as chief operating officer of IngenioRx, will take over operation of the company while the search for a new chief executive officer continues.
Anthem says Jain has been directly responsible for the development and operational plan for IngenioRx, which Anthem announced in October. Jain has been with Anthem since 2014 when she was named COO of Anthem Pharmacy Services and later promoted to senior vice president of Anthem Pharmacy Solutions.
Prior to joining Anthem, Jain served as COO of Cigna Pharmacy and chief financial officer of Medco Health Solutions Inc.’s health plan division.
"Deepti is a strong leader with more than 20 years of PBM experience and has been responsible for all aspects of the IngenioRx launch and transition plans to date," said Gail Boudreaux, chief executive officer of Anthem. "We have great confidence in her leadership and her ability to build and launch our new PBM and ensure a seamless transition for our customers."
Anthem is conducting an external search to find a successor to Brian Griffin, who resigned as CEO.
IngenioRx is expected to become fully operational in 2020, following the expiration of Anthem’s current PBM contract. Anthem says the company will improve affordability and achieve more than $4 billion an annual gross savings.
