Alice Rivlin to Speak at IU Commencement

Subscribe NowA former Federal Reserve Board vice chair and director of the White House Office of Management and Budget will deliver the 2015 December commencement address at Indiana University. Alice Rivlin, a Brookings Institution economist will speak at the ceremony Saturday.
Rivlin is a Bloomington native and serves as director of the Health Policy Center and Leonard D. Schaeffer Chair in Health Policy at the Brookings Institution in Washington D.C. She served as director of the White House Office and Budget in the first Clinton administration and later served as vice chair of the Federal Reserve Board from 1996-1999.
“Alice Rivlin is one of the nation’s most highly regarded public economists, with a record of outstanding service and accomplishments spanning several decades,” IU President Michael A. McRobbie said. “She also has longstanding connections to Bloomington, where she spent her childhood, and to Indiana University, where her father was a member of the faculty. We are delighted that she will share her perspectives and insights with the university’s winter graduates.”
President Barack Obama appointed Rivlin to the Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform in 2010. She also co-chaired the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Task Force on Debt Reduction with Senator Pete Domenici.
