The university said Monday that the gift is believed to be the largest in UE Athletics history.
The Freeland Clubhouse, which will be located near the German American Bank Field at Charles H. Braun Stadium on the Evansville campus, will include a locker room, coaching staff offices, and lounge space.
“It’s truly an honor for myself and my wife Ashley to be able to give back to the University of Evansville and support this baseball program into the future,” Freeland said. “I owe so much of my development as a baseball player and a person to my time at UE and Coach Wes Carroll, and this felt like the most fitting way for me to say thank you.”
Kyle Freeland played baseball for UE before being drafted in 2015. Ashley Freeland earned her bachelor’s degree in sport management from UE in 2015 as well.
UE said the clubhouse project is a pivotal part of its comprehensive athletics strategic plan, known as Pathway to Excellence, which was unveiled last June.
Construction on The Freeland Clubhouse is expected to be complete in the summer of 2025.
