The Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana is receiving the funding as part of a program to support fair housing initiatives across the country.
HUD awarded over $47 million to 120 national and local fair housing organizations helping to address violations of the Fair Housing Act. The The FCCI will receive an EOI grant of $125,000 and PEI grant of $361,036 for a total of $486,036.
“The fair housing groups’ HUD funds are a critical piece of combating housing discrimination. The grants we’re announcing today will enable 120 fair housing groups to combat unfair evictions and other housing practices that violate the Fair Housing Act,” said HUD Acting Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity Jeanine Worden.
HUD says the funding will allow the organizations to conduct investigations, test to find discrimination in rental and sales markets, filing fair housing complaints and also to implement education and outreach services to inform about rights and responsibilities under the Fair Housing Act.
