TG Missouri will Friday morning hold a drive-in job fair for open positions at its New Albany plant. The company says with social distancing rules in place, job seekers will not need to get out of their vehicles for an interview.
Illinois-based global hiring firm Staff Management | SMX is conducting the hiring event for TG Missouri.
“COVID-19 made recruiting a challenge. We were looking for ways to interview and keep everyone safe,” said Erin DeWeese, Staff Management director of operations.
TG Missouri hired SMX to find 30 temporary and temporary-to-permanent roles in its plastic mold injection division. Jobs include injection, painting, assembly, quality control and shipping departments.
Because interviewing is mostly an in-person activity, they needed a way to recruit, interview and hire while keeping applicants and recruiters safe and healthy.
“We find it very convenient for the applicant,” said DeWeese. “It cuts down on time, not having to actually enter a facility and go through security measures to enter a facility.”
Job seekers must complete applications online before driving to the site.
Every other parking spot is reserved to ensure social distancing. The applicants park and interview through an open window or outside with proper social distancing and masks.
“You’re more than welcome to stay in their car, but some feel restricted,” explained DeWeese. “But we also have tables set-up so if they want to exit their vehicle, they’re more than welcome to.”
Staff Management has held almost a dozen of these events across the country, exceeding weekly hiring averages in one day and hiring nearly 95% of applicants.
The drive-in recruiting event takes place Friday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at TG Missouri’s New Albany plant, 5331 Foundation Boulevard.
