Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report each project now has its team of project managers in place as a result.
The West Lake Corridor project would extend commuter rail service on the South Shore Line from Hammond to Dyer. The Double Track project would add a second full track on the existing South Shore Line between Gary and Michigan City. The cost of the projects is a total of nearly $1 billion.
The NICTD board has approved a project administration team for both projects, including deputy project managers for each, as well as a lead civil engineer, systems lead engineer, quality assurance manager, risk manager, and system safety specialist for both projects combined, according to the publication.
The board also approved the hiring of Indianapolis-based Beam, Longest and Neff LLC for real estate services, such as property acquisition, property management and demolition. Additionally, the board has approved a contract with engineering firm HDR for the second phase of West Lake program management, including contracting a company for design and construction.
Each of the contracts must still be approved by the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority and the Indiana Finance Authority.
