Rushville Seeking to Fund City Center Marquee

The city’s downtown Masonic Temple is being transformed into a new City Hall, movie theater, Ivy Tech classrooms and more.
The 104 year old lodge will include the Mayor’s office, and offices of city departments such as public works, which will allow residents to pay bills and receive permits in a centralized spot. The new Wolf Theater will manage a single screen movie theater on the first floor, with plans to show first-run movies. The retractable screen will allow for community events, workshops and children’s programs to also be held in the theater. City officials say the theater will be open for at least 12 free events each year, and will be available for nonprofit events. Ivy Tech will have two classrooms and staff offices on the first floor, with each classroom expected to hold 20-30 students.
The city has 60 days to raise $50,000 to receive a matching grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority to place a ‘stately marquee’ outside city center. The plan is for the marquee to also tout the city’s other recent downtown projects- Riverside Amphitheater and the Farmers’ and Artisan Marketplace.
