Schurz Completes Newspaper Acquisition

Subscribe NowMishawaka-based Schurz Communications Inc.’s Hoosier Times Group has completed the acquisition of Orange County Publishing. The deal includes The Paoli News Republican, Springs Valley Herald and Orange Countian, which will each continue to be published.
Schurz says all journalists from Orange County Publishing have been retained, and will continue to cover Orange County. The two companies have already begun content collaboration, and the Orange County Publishing newspapers will transition to the Schurz operating systems over the next several months. The publications will continue to be printed at Hoosier Times print facilities.
Orange County Publishing has roots dating back to the first edition of The Paoli Republican in 1875 and the founding of the Springs Valley Herald in 1902. The company has been owned by Art Hampton since 1997.
The Hoosier Times includes newspapers The Herald-Times in Bloomington, The Reporter-Times in Martinsville, The Mooresville-Decatur Times in Mooresville, The Times-Mail in Bedford, Spencer Evening World in Spencer, Clay City Times in Clay City and Ellettsville Journal in Ellettsville.
