Two Indy Spots on List for Best Fried Chicken

There is more than corn in Indiana, such as fried chicken, and two spots in Indianapolis have been named as some of the best places in the country for the crispy bird. The website "The Daily Meal" has compiled a list of the 75 best places for fried chicken.

Coming in at no. 51 on the list is Hollyhock Hill. The restaurant was built in 1928 and has been serving their four-ingredient "Hoosier pan-fried chicken" ever since. The building originally seated 30, but expansions over the years have increased the size to 150 seats. While not having the years of history like Hollyhock Hill, downtown Indianapolis’ Maxine’s Chicken and Waffles has made its mark to appear at no. 71 on the list. The restaurant opened in 2007 and serves giant sweet potato waffles with three pieces of their fried chicken, which they say is served with "a taste of love in every bite." 

Willie Mae’s Scotch House in New Orleans was ranked number one, followed by Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken in Mason, Tennessee and Lucy’s Fried Chicken in Austin, Texas. For the complete list, click here.
