Southwest Indiana Chamber Names New CEO

As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowThe Southwest Indiana Chamber has named Tara Barney president and chief executive officer. She comes from the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, where she served as CEO for around seven years.
Barney led the Quad Cities Chamber, which covers three counties in Iowa and three in Illinois, from 2010 through mid-2017. She oversaw a $6 million budget and and relationships with more than 30,000 local businesses, including several Fortune 500 companies. She led the merger of the region’s chambers and regional economic development organization into a unified organization.
Barney says she is excited to join "such a well-established chamber and a vibrant community that is southwest Indiana."
The search committee was led by Vectren Corp. Director of Federal Government Affairs Christine Keck. She says, after a national search, Barney stood out thanks to her experience in working with several civic and business organizations as well as her understanding of a variety of industries.
Barney holds degrees from Ohio State University and Miami University in Ohio. She begins in her new role March 19.
