Wilkinson Hall, named in recognition of a $10 million gift from IU alumnus Jay Wilkinson and his family, will be the home venue for the school’s volleyball and wrestling programs.
The project brings those sports back onto the IU Athletics campus, moving them from their current home at University Gymnasium at the intersection of 10th Street and the 45/46 bypass. The venue will also serve as year-round training space and host department and university events.
The $school says 10 million gift is the latest and largest from Wilkinson and his family. In 2012, the family donated $1 million to support the North End Zone’s strength and conditioning facility. The Wilkinsons last year endowed the Nancy Wilkinson Athletic Scholarship in honor of Jay Wilkinson’s late wife.Jay Wilkinson currently serves on the Varsity Club’s National Board of Directors.
Wilkinson Hall is scheduled to open in September 2018.
