Republican precinct committee members will choose between two candidates to replace Braun, who is resigning to focus on his campaign for U.S. Senate.
The committee members will hear short presentations from the candidates, Shane Lindauer and Jerry Sidebottom, before taking a secret ballot. The caucus is set for 6:00 at Jasper’s City Hall. The winner will serve the remainder of Braun’s term, which expires next year.
Braun, who has served in the house since 2014, earlier this month announced his plans to resign effective November 1. At the time, he called his time in the House "a rewarding and humbling experience," but said he hopes to "continue serving Hoosiers in a different capacity in the future."
