(NYSE: RSG) has taken the wraps off of its new Customer Resource Center in Fishers. Executive Vice President Tom Lynch says the facility will ultimately employ hundreds of workers and serve over 14 million customers throughout the United States. The project is part of an ongoing effort by Republic to consolidate from 108 customer resource centers to three. The recycler says the center currently has over 250 workers, and has plans to hire an additional 120 this year.
The other two locations are in Charlotte, North Carolina and Chandler, Arizona.
Lynch says the company picked Fishers for one of its three centers because a "rigorous" study showed the city had the work force with the skillset to take care of the company’s customers. Republic has more than 850 employees in Indiana and owns and operates five recycling facilities, five landfills, two landfill gas-to-energy projects and 11 transfer stations in the state.
The company says the 67,000 square-foot facility is catered to serve "evolving customer preferences and needs." It says about 60 percent of the materials used in the facility are made from recycled or reclaimed materials.
"We are excited to have Republic as part of our growing business community with a commitment to forward-thinking business practices," says Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness. "Their unique customer service approach coupled with sustainable design aligns well with our smart, vibrant, and entrepreneurial city."
Lynch says the company’s choice to bring a center to Fishers is a testimony to the community’s work force.
