Fishers-based Eleven Fifty Academy is launching its first Internet of Things course in April. The class will involve using remote control cars to create, collect and analyze data from IoT operating systems and hubs.

ClearObject (formerly CloudOne) Chief Executive Officer John McDonald says today’s college computer graduates "are the carpenters, plumbers and crafters of the new economy," saying the class will teach "exactly the kind of skills we need now."

The new class marks a new venture for the academy that has traditionally focused on coding skills. The nonprofit says its goal is to create an ecosystem of coding talent to benefit individuals, companies and communities. In April, Eleven Fifty announced a partnership with Ivy Tech Community College, allowing students taking a nine-week immersive coding course at the academy to apply credits earned toward certain degrees or certificates.

Enrollment is open for the new IoT course, which runs April 18-21.
