The addition of Sommer, a former standout goalkeeper for Indiana University’s soccer team and member of two U.S. Men’s National Team World Cup squads, marks an expansion for the company. LST says the growth includes ventures into facility management and international soccer.
Sommer previously worked for companies including McDonald’s Corp., Johnson & Johnson and Cassidy Turley. He was named Indy Eleven’s first head coach and director of soccer operations in 2013 and was let go in the middle of last season.
LST said last month, its joint venture with Byrd Enterprises Inc., called Jonathan Byrd’s Event & Entertainment, will manage commercial business and marketing for the Grand Park Events Center on the 400-acre Westfield campus. The multi-million dollar venue is set to open in July. Sommer is tasked with leading the Grand Park initiative and growth into areas such as soccer and developmental youth athletics. Sommer will be joined in Westfield by LST Marketing veteran TJ Land, who has been promoted to director of marketing services of the center.
Chief Executive Officer John Lopes says "Juergen brings an ideal mix of skill and experience to LST Marketing for this new role. He has extensive connections and proven results in the field sports industry, and LST Marketing’s experience in event production, sports and entertainment, sponsorships and brand marketing will impact the growth of its new venture in field sports. Juergen knows what winning looks like, and he is a perfect fit."
In January, the company announced it was opening an office in South Florida, shortly after its acquisition of GRand Solutions LLC in Speedway.
