Townsend Institute Set For Grand Opening
Huntington's program will launch in the summer of 2017.

Subscribe NowHuntington University will host a grand opening ceremony Saturday for its Townsend Institute for Leadership and Counseling. The center’s curriculum will be based on the teachings of best-selling author and psychologist John Townsend.
It will focus on studies ranging from scriptural teachings to neuroscience research.
When the center was announced earlier this year, Townsend said "I wanted to partner with a university that, as an organization, is committed to academic excellence, is biblically-based, has a relational culture, is very strategic and can make nimble and agile administrative decisions. Huntington has those qualities and more."
Students can earn master’s degrees in counseling and organizational leadership through the institute and the school says the teachings will be "practical and skilled-based, allowing the student to become a practitioner through both theory and technique."
Townsend has written or co-written more than two dozen books, including "Boundaries," which sold two million copies.
Scott Makin is a licensed counselor and business consultant and will direct the center.
