The company is investing nearly $7 million in its new polystyrene operations at its Scottsburg facility with plans to create 45 jobs by 2028, according to One Southern Indiana (1si).
The investment will also support additional equipment upgrades to support Genpak’s existing manufacturing operations at 845 South Elm Street in Scottsburg.
Genpak manufactures a variety of food service packaging products, including hinged containers, paperboard containers, and serving trays for the restaurant, grocery, and delivery and takeout markets, among others.
President Jeff Hebert said in a news release that the Scottsburg investment is a strategic imperative that strengthens the company’s operations and workforce.
The new jobs will add to Genpak’s 138 existing employees, 1si said. The company plans to invest $173,000 in training efforts for the new workers.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is offering Genpak up to $425,000 in conditional tax credits, which the company will not be eligible to claim until Hoosier workers are hired for the new jobs.
“We are elated about the expansion of Genpak here in our community,” Scottsburg Mayor Terry Amick said in the release. “Their decision to make continued investments in their Scottsburg facility and add 45 new jobs emphasizes the attractiveness of Scottsburg’s business environment. We look forward to supporting their continued growth and success.”
