The move seeks to increase the bureau’s visibility and capture more foot traffic.
The new space at 228 Spring St., Ste. 106 in Jeffersonville combines SoIN Tourism’s previously split tourism offices and visitor center.
The bureau says the new location will have self-service touchscreens and travel counselors available to direct people toward regional attractions.
“A visitor’s first impression of a destination often takes place at a visitor center,” SoIN Tourism Executive Director Jim Epperson said in a news release. “Being located in the heart of a historic downtown district full of foot traffic thanks to local businesses will allow us to better serve visitors and the local community, creating that positive first impression and increasing the chances of return visits.”
The event is open to the public and will take place at 4:30 p.m. at the new center. Local officials and SoIN leaders will give remarks.
