Porter County Community Foundation awards nearly $100K

The awards come as a part of the the Porter County foundation’s annual distribution of about $350,000 from its Community Fund. The next deadline for Community Fund grant applications is Feb. 15.
Recipients in this grant cycle include:
- Art Barn School of Art: $10,000 for a fire and security system and accessibility improvements
- Call-A-Ride: $6,000 to support van operations in Hebron and Boone Township
- The Caring Place: $10,000 to support the mobile technology service OhanaLink Purple
- Compass International Family Center: $10,000 to support international families new to Porter County
- Dress for School: $10,000 for clothing and shoes for elementary and middle school children
- Duneland Family YMCA: $5,000 for an educational sensory room at the YMCA Healthy Living Campus
- Girls on the Run of Northwest Indiana: $9,893 to support confidence program curriculum
- Hilltop Neighborhood House: $10,000 to support a free, public soup kitchen
- Humane Indiana: $5,000 for transportation and wildlife release education programs
- Independent Cat Society: $5,000 for feline spay and neuter procedures
- Moraine House: $4,500 for tuck pointing and masonry
- Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra: $5,000 to support Valparaiso High School’s Holiday Pops Porter County concert
- Opportunity Enterprises: $5,000 for a generator at the Fiesta Group Home in Portage
- Playact Theatre: $3,000 for performance lighting equipment
- Three20 Recovery: $1,000 to support a music program
