The town is the latest in Indiana to launch a crowdfunding campaign as a part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s CreatINg Places program.
If Main Street Plainfield, an organization supporting Plainfield’s growth, can raise $10,000 by Nov. 24, the state will match funds for proposed improvements.
Main Street Plainfield leaders say they hope their project can be used to spur activity downtown and support holiday celebrations.
“Main Street Plainfield is excited to create a central event location downtown, and we believe Bicentennial Plaza is the perfect place to start,” Main Street Plainfield Executive Director Anne Johansson said in a news release. “We hope our event on Small Business Saturday will showcase this beautiful but underused spot on Main Street. Our goal is to light up Main Street and create a place where families can make memories that last a lifetime.”
