The chambers said the merger will create more exposure for Alexandria chamber members by connecting them with a larger audience.
The MCC, which bills itself as the region’s largest business advocacy organization, said it will “continue to shine a bright light on the growing business community in Alexandria.”
“This merge will further unify our community and bring valuable resources to the Alexandria business community,” MCC President and CEO Clayton Whitson said in a news release. “We are excited by the potential here and for the future partnerships that are on the horizon.”
Whitson told IIB no current employees will be negatively affected by the merger. The MCC has three full-time employees, while the AMCC currently has a vacancy, and Whitson said there is a possibility of a staffing increase.
The merger will be effective June 1.
Representatives from both chambers will host a town hall event on May 25 to answer questions about the merger. The event will take place at 6 p.m. at the Alexandria Community Center, located at 315 S. Harrison Street.
