Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union is planning to change its name to Liberty Federal Credit Union later this year when new signage will go up throughout its branch locations in Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. Business Development Officer Tim Ethridge says the credit union has experienced phenomenal growth over the past two years.
The credit union, which serves more than 265,000 members, says each of its 28 branches will remain open.
“We are changing our name to better represent our entire membership,” said Bill Schirmer, ETFCU president and chief executive officer. “However, you can rest assured that we remain the same nationally recognized credit union focused on providing superior value for all your financial needs.”
The credit union surpassed $3 billion in assets last month and says it has become one of the tristate’s largest employers, expanding from 160 in 2012 to its current workforce of nearly 750 employees.
The credit union says it plans to continue to grow its footprint throughout the tristate. Its Jasper office is on track to open next year.
