Nearly all of the work for the more than $11 million contract awarded to Pratt & Whitney Military Engines will be performed in Indianapolis.
The contract calls for the supplies and services to implement changes to the Rolls Royce lift fan systems and engine ice protection system for the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet. The work is being done in support of the U.S. Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and international partners.
The DOD says 97 percent of the work will be performed in Indy with the remaining work being performed in Oklahoma City. Work is expected to be complete in December of 2017.
The Naval Air Systems Command in Maryland is the contracting activity. Earlier this month, Pratt & Whitney, along with Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis, were awarded a $216 million contract for production of LiftSystems for the F-35B Lighting II aircraft.
