Interstate Warehousing Inc. says the 250,000-square-foot facility will create about 60 jobs in the Madison County city.
Construction on the facility is set to begin in December and is expected to be complete by the third quarter of 2018. It sits on a 76-acre property in Anderson and the company says there will be room to expand to more than 1 million square feet, if needed.
Interstate Warehousing says the facility will serve as a multi-temperature storage warehouse with approximately 30,000 pallet positions and state-of-the-art equipment. The company has two additional cold storage facilities in the Indianapolis area along with its corporate offices in Fort Wayne.
"We chose Anderson because it was a good strategic fit for our business,” said John Tippmann Jr., president of Tippmann Group and Interstate Warehousing. "This new location will provide us with additional opportunities to expand our customer base, and continue to grow our company."
The city of Anderson has approved a seven-year tax abatement for the project.
